Most skaters will remember going through a phase of sticking shit loads of Shoe Goo on to the sides of a dieing skate shoe! trying to keep them alive for another sesh… skate shoes were more precious back in the old days as they weren’t in every shop in town and we had no money, so we had to make them last as long as possible…
Part of the Sept 08 SB Release comes this nice Dunk Hi and they are looking pretty fresh! A good strong release for Nike/SB its been awhile! nice features like duck tape panels and original Shoo Goo packaging details, plus a clear shoe goo like sole…. Nice!
Before I moved to Edinburgh I semi ghetto sprayed my frame and forks to get rid of the very ghetto orange and black fade spray job I created before… anyway heres a simple quick walk through on how I did it…
Step 1
Strip down all the parts and old paint this took a little while with industrial paint stripper goo but it worked really well… I couldn’t be ass’d to remove the bottom bracket, I was just careful not to get any paint stripper on/init… I then rubbed the frame down with wet and dry and wire wool to get a good clean smooth finish all over, then I gave the frame a good wipe over and clean so it was free from any dust etc. I did contemplate just lacquering the frame in its bare state it would have looked pretty sick…
Step 2
Old shoe laces and washing line required… I masked off the bottom bracket and forks and the hung the bad boy up…
Step 3
Spray with a couple of light coats of undercoat (make sure your undercoat and cover paint are compatible don’t mix acrylic and cellulose paints)… leave each coat plenty of time to dry before respraying a second or third coat its worth the wait…
Step 4
Spray with your desired colour, again give as many coats as you can to get a nice solid finish at least 2…
Step 5
Once the frame has dried for 24hrs give it a few good coats of clear lacquer
leave the frame to dry for about 24 to 48Hrs then rebuild… Sorted a new bike!
cheers
