Another 700c x 26 Debate
Thursday, December 30th, 2010This old chestnut! with the continued progression of FGFS and a many people switching to 26″ fixed, its understandable bike companies are trying to get their heads around which direction its going… I think companies like Grime offering their ‘Yo Mang’ frame as a 26″ and 700c version is the way as its mostly down to personal preference. Personally I’m gonna stick to 700c fixed, as I have a 26″ DJ bike and will be getting a new BMX for the park and street! Join in the debate this time over on Volumes website!
Volume’s New Hipster V2 Bars
Friday, December 3rd, 2010A new tougher and wider upgrade to the previous Hipster Bar these have a 2.5″ rise and come in a clamp size 25.4mm, pretty sick, but how come they don’t do a 22.2mm?
FEATURES:
With the majority of riser bars on the market being aluminum, we really wanted something that riders can abuse without sacrificing strength in the process. We’ve seen too many aluminum bars break due to how brittle the metal is. Yes aluminum is cheap and light as hell but would you jump off a building with em’? The Hipsters come from the same tubing as our 13-butted, 4130 CRMO, heat treated BMX bars.
SPECS:
- Full 13-butted, heat treated CRMO
- Clamp size: 25.4 mm
- Rise: 2.5″
- Width: 27″
- Backsweep: 11°
- Upsweep: 1°
- Weight: 10 oz
COLORS:
Chrome, Raw, Black & White

Friday, November 19th, 2010Volume Vandal Build
Thursday, November 18th, 2010When I first saw this frame earlier this week I was pretty sure it wasn’t designed specifically as a 26″ fixed freestyle frame, but I’m sure quite a few people did and will give it a try… but why fixed? I really like this bike and I’d prefer to ride it with a free wheel as a big bmx! rad!
Anyway what Volume say:
“Apparently our new Vandal frame has gotten a ton of feedback from all sorts of peeps in the industry, I mean blogs. Is it a FGFS or a DJ? The Vandal is basically our Sledgehammer 26″ BMX, except simplified. We’re not saying it’s one or the other. It’s a 26″ frame that was designed to easily maneuver around for whatever you ride; fixed, dirt or just cruise the curbs.”
New Volume Website and New Cutter etc.
Tuesday, November 16th, 2010Volume Bike Co launch their new website now as a portal for BMX and for 700/26″. Expect lots of new changes and products soon, keep up to date with their new RSS feed which already displays 2011 products, including the new 26″ Sledge hammer complete and the upcoming Vandal frame… 26″ FGFS frame?? Also the updated Cutter frame which I showed previously from the Interbike lookbook is still having its last few mods before launch, check it out above with its curved seat tube…
I’m loving it
Sunday, November 14th, 2010Yeah I know, I know, the Volume Thrasher has been out for awhile now… well I only just got mine and this sexy blue color has only been available since about mid September in the UK. The good news is, I’m stoked on it! Hops and 180s etc. feel good and it rides just how I wanted… it feels snappy, light and quick, although on this medium version with 700c wheels I get a lot of toe overlap when the front wheel is reversed, which I thought should have almost been eliminated? this makes those hop bars as tricky as on my previous frame and fork… This fork is the Thrasher fork which has a lower ATC which makes the whole ride feel pretty dam nice… I can’t wait to go ride again!
